In the 2024-25 school year, 1,353 African American students attended Morrow High School, which marks a 6.5% increase over the prior year, reports the Georgia Department of Education.
The school reported a total student body of 2,020 for the 2024-25 school year. African American students formed 67% of the population, accounting for the school’s largest demographic group.
Morrow High School is part of the Clayton County School District, which is headquartered in Jonesboro.
Within Clayton County’s 65 schools, Lovejoy High School reported the greatest enrollment of African American students in 2024-25, with 1,614 enrolled.
There were more than 1.7 million students registered in Georgia public schools, according to the Georgia Department of Education’s Fiscal Year 2026-1 report. Elementary enrollment stood at 787,206 students (45.9%), while middle schools and high schools reported 388,733 (22.7%) and 539,092 (31.4%) respectively.
The Georgia Department of Education noted that in 2024, 20.7% of students missed 10% or more of their instructional days, indicating ongoing concerns about chronic absenteeism following the pandemic. In response, GaDOE initiated a statewide effort that features a real-time attendance dashboard, an outreach campaign, and targeted help for districts with high absentee rates.
Legislation passed by Georgia lawmakers in 2025 updated attendance laws to prohibit expulsion solely for absenteeism. The new requirements enhance reporting and correspond with pathways that support alternative diploma completion options for students.
By 2026, Georgia maintained an average student-to-teacher ratio of about 14:1, compared to the national average of 15:1.
