The total enrollment at Utopian Academy for the Arts Elementary School reached 310 students in 2024-25. Of those, white students accounted for 1% of the population, representing one of the smallest demographic groups at the school.

The school is affiliated with Clayton County School District, headquartered in Jonesboro.

The National Center for Education Statistics reported the demographic breakdown for Georgia’s public school students as approximately 36.4% Black, 35.9% white, 18.1% Hispanic, 4% Asian, 4.6% multiracial, 0.2% American Indian or Alaska Native, and 0.1% Pacific Islander.

Chronic absenteeism continues to challenge Georgia schools after the pandemic, with 20.7% of students missing 10% or more days in 2024, according to the Georgia Department of Education. GaDOE responded by initiating a statewide effort that includes a real-time attendance dashboard, an awareness campaign, and targeted assistance for high-need districts to improve attendance rates.

Georgia lawmakers updated school attendance laws in 2025, approving a bill that prohibits expulsion solely for absenteeism. The legislation also requires new reporting and supports alternative programs for students to earn diplomas.

By 2026, Georgia maintained an average student-to-teacher ratio of about 14:1, surpassing the national figure of 15:1.
