Clayton County officials announced on April 27 that advance voting for the General Primary Election will be available from April 27 to May 15, ahead of the main election day on May 19, 2026. Residents can vote early at multiple locations throughout the county during this period.
The opportunity for early voting aims to increase voter participation and provide flexibility for residents who may not be able to vote on Election Day. Voting sites will operate Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sundays from noon to 5 p.m.
Eligible voters can cast their ballots at various locations, including the Election & Registration Office in Jonesboro, Carl Rhodenizer Recreation Center in Rex, Forest Park Senior Center in Forest Park, Lake Spivey Recreation Center in Jonesboro, Morrow City Hall in Morrow, South Clayton Recreation Center in Hampton, Virginia Gray Recreation Center in Riverdale, Flint River Community Center in Riverdale, Sonna Gregory Senior Center in Ellenwood, Northwest Branch Library in Riverdale, and Headquarters Library in Jonesboro. Sample ballots are available online at claytonelections.com.
In addition to preparations for the upcoming election cycle, data show that enrollment at Clayton County schools dropped by 2.5% during the 2022-23 school year compared to the previous year according to Georgia Department of Education. The total number of students enrolled was reported as 61,644 by state education officials.
Demographic data reveal that Black students made up the largest share of Clayton County’s student body at 68%, followed by Hispanic students representing about one-quarter of enrollment according to Georgia Department of Education. Multiracial students accounted for approximately three percent and White students comprised two percent as reported by state sources.
