Total enrollment at Forest Park High School reached 1,698 students during the same period, with African American students comprising 38% of the population, ranking as the second-largest demographic group at the school.

Forest Park High School is part of the Clayton County School District, which is headquartered in Jonesboro.

Within the 65 schools in the Clayton County School District, Lovejoy High School had the highest African American student enrollment in the 2024-25 school year at 1,614 students.

The National Center for Education Statistics reports that Georgia public schools enrolled students whose racial and ethnic makeup in recent years was about 36.4% Black, 35.9% white, 18.1% Hispanic, 4% Asian, 4.6% multiracial, 0.2% American Indian or Alaska Native, and 0.1% Pacific Islander.

Chronic absenteeism continues to be a significant concern for Georgia schools after the pandemic, with 20.7% of students missing 10% or more school days in 2024, according to the Georgia Department of Education. In response, the department has introduced a statewide initiative that includes a real-time attendance dashboard, a public awareness campaign, and directed support for districts with high absentee rates to improve daily attendance.

In 2025, Georgia lawmakers changed school attendance laws, prohibiting expulsions based solely on absenteeism. The revised law introduces new reporting guidelines and coordinates with programs that offer students alternative routes to a diploma.

For 2026, Georgia reported an average student-to-teacher ratio of about 14:1, which is below the national average of 15:1.
