Georgia Department of Education data show Fayette County High School counted 67 Asian students enrolled for the 2024-25 school year, unchanged from the prior year, according to reports from the Georgia Department of Education.
The school’s total enrollment reached 1,345 students in 2024-25. Asian students represented 5% of that population, making up the smallest demographic group at the school.
Fayette County High is part of the Fayette County School District, headquartered in Fayetteville.
McIntosh High School had the highest Asian student enrollment in the district among the 24 Fayette County School District campuses, with 280 Asian students in 2024-25.
According to the National Center for Education Statistics, Georgia public schools had a racial and ethnic distribution of approximately 36.4% Black, 35.9% white, 18.1% Hispanic, 4% Asian, 4.6% multiracial, 0.2% American Indian or Alaska Native, and 0.1% Pacific Islander students.
Chronic absenteeism continues to challenge Georgia schools after the pandemic, with 20.7% of students missing at least 10% of school days in 2024, per the Georgia Department of Education. In response, the agency launched a statewide effort that features a real-time attendance dashboard, a statewide awareness campaign and targeted support strategies for high-need districts aiming to improve daily attendance.
In 2025, state lawmakers passed legislation to prohibit expulsion just for absenteeism. The law also brings new reporting requirements and is coordinated with alternative diploma programs for students.
By 2026, Georgia’s average student-to-teacher ratio was around 14:1, surpassing the national average of 15:1.
