Thirteen Asian students attended Mundys Mill Middle School in the 2024-25 school year—a decrease of 35% compared to the prior year, reports from the Georgia Department of Education show.
The school saw a total of 681 students enrolled for 2024-25. Asian students made up 2% of the overall student population, making them the second-smallest group represented at the school.
Mundys Mill Middle School belongs to Clayton County School District, which is headquartered in Jonesboro.
Out of all 65 schools in the Clayton County School District, Morrow High School reported the largest Asian student enrollment for 2024-25, with 141 students.
The National Center for Education Statistics found that public school students across Georgia are 36.4% Black, 35.9% white, 18.1% Hispanic, 4% Asian, 4.6% multiracial, 0.2% American Indian or Alaska Native and 0.1% Pacific Islander.
Post-pandemic, chronic absenteeism continues to affect Georgia schools. In 2024, 20.7% of students missed at least 10% of school days, the Georgia Department of Education reported. A statewide effort from GaDOE now includes an attendance dashboard, a public outreach campaign, and concentrated assistance for districts most affected in order to improve daily attendance rates.
Legislation passed by Georgia lawmakers in 2025 now prohibits expulsion for absenteeism alone and introduces new reporting guidelines, as well as expansion of alternative diploma programs.
In 2026, Georgia’s average student-to-teacher ratio was about 14:1, which is an improvement over the 15:1 national student-to-teacher average.
