The Atlanta Falcons have designated cornerback Clark Phillips III to return from injured reserve, the team announced Wednesday. This decision initiates a 21-day period in which the Falcons must decide whether to activate Phillips to the main roster or place him on season-ending injured reserve.
Phillips was placed on injured reserve in Week 7 after suffering a triceps injury. He had first appeared on the injury report in Week 6 and did not play when Atlanta defeated the Buffalo Bills. Following his injury and an illness, he did not participate in practices.
Before his stint on injured reserve, Phillips played one game for Atlanta this season, recording one tackle during the team’s Week 4 victory over the Washington Commanders.
With only two games left in their regular season schedule, the Falcons will need to make a final decision about Phillips’ status before their last game. He is now eligible to return to practice as Atlanta prepares for its upcoming Monday night matchup against the Los Angeles Rams.
