The Atlanta Falcons have been eliminated from contention for the 2025 NFL Playoffs following their loss to the Seattle Seahawks at Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Sunday. The defeat leaves the team with a 4-9 record, making it mathematically impossible for them to secure a postseason spot.
This marks the eighth straight year that the Falcons will not participate in the playoffs. Their last appearance was in 2017, when they won against the Los Angeles Rams in the wild-card round but were defeated by the Philadelphia Eagles in the divisional round. With only four games left, the best possible finish for Atlanta this season is an 8-9 record.
After Sunday’s game, head coach Raheem Morris addressed fans’ disappointment: “Our fan base deserves a winner,” he said. “The only thing we can do is try to find a way to go win in this Thursday football game. You can’t make any promise that you can’t keep at this moment. The only thing you can do is try to give them the best efforts you can give them, potentially on Thursday night.”
Looking ahead, Atlanta will face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Thursday night. The team’s remaining schedule includes road games against both Tampa Bay and Arizona Cardinals (Dec. 21), followed by home matchups with the Los Angeles Rams (Dec. 29) and New Orleans Saints (Jan. 3 or 4).
