Chairwoman Dr. Alieka Anderson-Henry and Clayton County Parks and Recreation Director Nicole Horne announced on April 10 that registration is open for the Jazz Sip and Paint event, which will take place on Saturday, May 30 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at The Meadow at Clayton County International Park in Jonesboro. The event will feature a live performance by jazz singer Phillippa.

The announcement highlights an opportunity for residents to participate in a free community arts activity. Events like this are designed to bring together members of the community in a creative environment.

According to the Georgia Department of Education, enrollment at Clayton County schools dropped by 2.5% in the 2022-23 school year compared to the previous year according to official data. In total, Clayton County schools enrolled 61,644 students during that period according to state records.

Demographic data shows that Black students made up the largest group within county schools at 68% of enrollment as reported by state education statistics. Hispanic students were the second most represented group at 24%, while multiracial students accounted for 3% of the student body according to state data. White students were least represented, making up just 2% of enrollment according to official figures.
