Clayton County will open warming centers to the public from December 2, 2025 through December 3, 2025. The county announced the move as part of efforts to support residents during expected cold weather.
“Clayton County warming centers will be open to the public from December 2, 2025 through December 3, 2025. #ClaytonConnected,” officials stated.
This announcement comes as Clayton County schools have seen a decline in enrollment. During the 2022-23 school year, enrollment dropped by 2.5% compared to the previous year, according to data from the Georgia Department of Education (https://www.gadoe.org/). In total, Clayton County schools enrolled about 61,644 students in that period (https://www.gadoe.org/). White students made up only about two percent of this student population (https://www.gadoe.org/).
The opening of warming centers is intended to provide temporary relief for those affected by low temperatures during these dates.
