The Board of Elections and Registration announced on May 28 that it will perform a risk-limiting audit of the May 19, 2026, General and Nonpartisan Election. The audit is scheduled for Friday, May 29, at South Clayton Recreation Center located at 1837 McDonough Rd, Hampton, Georgia, beginning at 9 a.m.

According to the announcement, the purpose of the risk-limiting audit is to ensure accuracy in the reported results from the recent election. The process will be conducted publicly by county officials.

Risk-limiting audits are designed to provide statistical evidence that election outcomes are correct or to correct them if they are not. This type of audit is increasingly used across jurisdictions as part of efforts to maintain public confidence in electoral processes.
