Clayton County hosts Lunch and Learn event to connect seniors with government communicators

The Office of Communications is organizing an event called “Meet the Messengers,” aimed at celebrating government communicators and informing local residents about their work. The Lunch and Learn session is scheduled for February 19, 2026, at the J. Charley Griswell Senior Center in Jonesboro, Georgia. It is specifically designed for seniors aged 55 and older.

According to the organizers, the event will provide an opportunity for attendees to learn about the role of government communications in daily life. “This is your #ClaytonConnected opportunity to discover what we do, why we do it, and how our work impacts you every day,” states the Office of Communications. “Come enjoy an informative and engaging session that connects you with the voices behind the messages that keep our community informed!” Lunch will be available for purchase during the event.

Recent data shows that Clayton County schools experienced a 2.5% drop in enrollment during the 2022-23 school year compared to the previous year https://www.gadoe.org/. The total number of students enrolled was 61,644 https://www.gadoe.org/. In terms of demographics, Black students represented the majority at 68% https://www.gadoe.org/, followed by Hispanic students at 24% https://www.gadoe.org/. Multiracial students accounted for 3% https://www.gadoe.org/, while White students made up just 2% of the student body https://www.gadoe.org/.
