The Clayton County Library System, in collaboration with the Georgia Public Library Service and the Georgia Writers’ Museum in Eatonton, is hosting the African American Distinguished Georgia Writers Traveling Exhibit at its Headquarters Library Branch. The exhibit is open to the public at no cost through January 5, 2025, at 865 Battle Creek Rd., Jonesboro.
The exhibit features three prominent African-American authors who are members of the Georgia Writers Hall of Fame: Alice Walker, Jean Toomer, and Raymond Andrews. Their works and personal stories are highlighted to showcase their impact on Georgia’s literary landscape.
“This exhibit is an opportunity for citizens to experience a piece of Georgia history and African American history,” said Director of Library Services Scott Parham. “Our team is excited to showcase these phenomenal authors by sharing their works, their personal journeys, and their impact on Georgia’s literary history.”
Library cardholders are encouraged to borrow books by each featured author during their visit.
The traveling exhibit will be displayed at 12 public libraries across Georgia. It aims to educate communities about African Americans who have influenced the state’s literary history. More information about the Georgia Public Library Service can be found at https://georgialibraries.org/.
