Clayton County Parks and Recreation to host Movie Under the Stars on May 2

Clayton County Parks and Recreation announced on Apr. 17 that it will hold a Movie Under the Stars event featuring “Inside Out 2” on Saturday, May 2, at Rex Park in Rex, Georgia. The movie is scheduled to begin at 7:00 PM, and attendees are encouraged to bring family, friends, and blankets for an evening outdoors.

The event aims to provide a community gathering opportunity for residents of Clayton County. It is open to all ages and seeks to foster connections among families and neighbors.

According to the Georgia Department of Education, enrollment at Clayton County schools dropped by 2.5% in the 2022-23 school year compared to the previous year according to official data. In total, Clayton County schools enrolled 61,644 students during that period as reported by state records.

The student body reflects a diverse population. Black students made up the largest ethnic group within Clayton County schools at 68% in the same school year according to state statistics. Hispanic students were the second most represented group at 24%, while multiracial students accounted for about 3% of enrollment as noted by education officials. White students were the least represented ethnic group in county schools with only about 2% of total enrollment according to state data.
