Clayton County officials announced on June 2 that construction is nearing completion for the new Clayton County Fire & Emergency Services Fire Station No. 9, while installation of underground piping continues at both the Lakeview Events Center Amphitheater and the site of the new Clayton County Administration Building.

The county provided an update on several Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) projects, inviting residents to view project progress at www.claytonsplost.com. The announcement highlighted ongoing efforts to improve public facilities through voter-approved sales tax funds.

In addition to infrastructure updates, recent data shows shifts in local school enrollment. Enrollment at Clayton County schools dropped by 2.5% in the 2022-23 school year compared to the previous year, according to the Georgia Department of Education. During that same period, Clayton County schools enrolled a total of 61,644 students.

Demographic data from the Georgia Department of Education shows that Black students were the most represented ethnic group within Clayton County schools, making up 68% of the student body during the 2022-23 school year. Hispanic students accounted for 24%, multiracial students made up 3%, and white students comprised 2%.

Officials encourage community members to stay informed about SPLOST project developments by visiting official county resources.
