Clayton County leaders recently welcomed Buddhist monks participating in the Walk for Peace, a 120-day journey covering 2,300 miles from Fort Worth, Texas to Washington D.C. The walk aims to promote awareness of peace, love, kindness, and compassion across the United States.
Local residents are invited to attend events related to the walk or follow its progress online through its Facebook page at https://facebook.com/walkforpeaceusa.
The visit comes as Clayton County schools experienced a 2.5% decrease in enrollment during the 2022-23 academic year compared to the previous year. According to data from the Georgia Department of Education, there were 61,644 students enrolled in Clayton County schools during that period (https://www.gadoe.org/). White students comprised just 2% of the county’s student population in that same school year (https://www.gadoe.org/).
