In addition to community messages, recent data shows that enrollment at Clayton County schools dropped by 2.5% in the 2022-23 school year compared to the previous year, according to the Georgia Department of Education. During this period, Clayton County schools enrolled a total of 61,644 students. Black students were the most represented ethnic group within Clayton County schools, making up 68% of the student body in that school year. Hispanic students accounted for 24%, while multiracial students comprised 3%. White students were the least represented group at just 2%, according to the Georgia Department of Education.
The demographic trends and declining enrollment may influence how local leaders like Davis engage with families and address educational priorities moving forward.
