Reports from the Georgia Department of Education show Eddie White Middle School enrolled 55 multiracial students in the 2024-25 school year, a 1.9% increase compared to the prior year.

Total enrollment at Eddie White Middle School reached 1,383 students in 2024-25. Multiracial students represented 4% of the population, ranking as the second-smallest student group in the school.

The school operates within Clayton County School District, which is headquartered in Jonesboro.

Within the 65 schools across Clayton County School District, Lovejoy High School reported the highest count of multiracial students in 2024-25, enrolling 59 students.

The Georgia Department of Education’s Fiscal Year 2026-1 report shows more than 1.7 million students enrolled in the state’s public schools. The breakdown shows elementary grades had the most students at 787,206 (45.9%), with middle schools at 388,733 (22.7%), and high schools at 539,092 (31.4%).

Chronic absenteeism continues to challenge Georgia schools after the pandemic, with 20.7% of students missing 10% or more days in 2024, according to the Georgia Department of Education. The state has responded with a new statewide initiative that includes a live attendance dashboard, a public campaign, and targeted assistance for districts with high absenteeism rates.

In 2025, lawmakers in Georgia updated school attendance laws to prohibit expelling students only for absenteeism. The legislation also establishes additional reporting requirements and works with programs offering alternative diploma pathways.

By 2026, Georgia’s average student-teacher ratio was about 14:1, which is more favorable than the national ratio of 15:1.
