The Atlanta Falcons announced on Mar. 26 the appointment of Steven Drummond as senior vice president of communications.
Drummond joins the team after his tenure as deputy athletic director and chief marketing officer at the University of Georgia Athletic Association, where he led communications and creative strategy since 2023. His responsibilities included managing partnerships with brands, donors, and Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) platforms to create opportunities for student-athletes.
“I’m excited to welcome Steven to our senior leadership team,” said Falcons President and CEO Greg Beadles. “He brings a wealth of experience, sound judgment and a strong track record of elevating communications strategy at the highest levels. As our football team and business continue to evolve in a dynamic environment, alignment, clarity and consistency are more important than ever. Steven is a trusted relationship builder with a clear strategic vision, shaped by success in high-pressure settings, and he will be a tremendous asset to our organization.”
As senior vice president of communications, Drummond will oversee media strategy, day-to-day operations in communications, proactive storytelling across various platforms including traditional media and community channels, and ensure cross-functional alignment among departments responsible for fan engagement.
Before joining the University of Georgia Athletic Association in Athens, Drummond spent 22 years working with National Football League teams such as the Carolina Panthers—where he served as vice president of football operations—and Jacksonville Jaguars. In Carolina he managed all aspects of football operations including equipment management and player engagement; earlier roles included chief communications officer overseeing public relations strategies during significant seasons like Carolina’s advance to Super Bowl 50.
