The Atlanta Falcons will begin their Organized Team Activities (OTAs) without outside linebacker Bralen Trice, who is still recovering from a torn ACL sustained last year. Head coach Raheem Morris mentioned that training camp is a “realistic goal” for the second-year player.
“He is at the point where he’s out there with our PT,” Morris stated. “I don’t want to misstep with my words. He is with him most of the time. He’s doing a couple things on the side. He’s doing a lot of the running things. But definitely not at the ‘full’ category yet if we were doing some of those things. So, he’s working his way back.”
Trice’s injury occurred during last year’s preseason opener against the Miami Dolphins when he left in the second quarter after rushing the passer and had to be assisted off the field by trainers. The Falcons placed him on season-ending injured reserve shortly afterward.
Before his injury, Trice was gaining significant playing time with both first- and second-team defenses during training camp and was listed as a backup outside linebacker behind Arnold Ebiketie on the team’s initial depth chart.
This offseason, the Falcons focused heavily on improving their defense, especially in terms of pass rush capabilities. Trice’s potential return and role in this revamped defense will be closely watched during training camp if he can return to action.
