Tight end Kyle Pitts Sr. is dealing with an undisclosed injury as the Atlanta Falcons continue their second week of organized team activities (OTAs), according to head coach Raheem Morris. Pitts was absent from the team’s first open practice last Tuesday and will remain off the field for now. While Morris did not specify the nature of Pitts’ injury, there have been reports suggesting it may involve his foot.

“Extremely cautious with Kyle right now and what he’s got going on,” Morris stated. “Obviously you don’t talk about injuries this time of year, but definitely being cautious with him. You won’t see him. He’s been here. He’s done such a great job of all the stuff that we’ve asked of him. He’s been in every single meeting. He’s been in every single thing that we’ve done other than the field. And he’s been absolutely outstanding to be around.”

Falcons quarterback Michael Penix Jr. confirmed last Tuesday that he has thrown with Pitts during this offseason, indicating Pitts’ active involvement despite his absence from field activities.

Pitts was selected by the Falcons as the No. 4 overall draft pick in 2021 and made an impressive start with 1,026 receiving yards and one touchdown as a rookie. However, a knee injury ended his 2022 season prematurely, impacting his subsequent performance; he recorded 667 receiving yards in 2023 and achieved a career-high four touchdowns in 2024.

“I am expecting Kyle to take a big jump in Year 2 of the system,” said Falcons offensive coordinator Zac Robinson. “Year 2 of understanding what we are trying to do offensively, all those things that come with it… I am pumped for Kyle. Can’t wait to get on the field with him and it’s going to be a lot of fun to see his growth.”
