The Atlanta Falcons have announced the signing of defensive back Josh Thompson. This marks Thompson’s return to the team after a brief stint last season during training camp. However, he was placed on injured reserve due to an undisclosed injury and subsequently released before the start of the season.

Josh Thompson, 26, entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent in 2022. During his rookie year, he played six games with the Tennessee Titans, contributing exclusively on special teams with a total of 83 snaps. Since then, Thompson has not appeared in any games. Before his initial engagement with the Falcons, he was part of the Houston Texans roster.

In order to accommodate Thompson on their 90-man roster, the Falcons have released safety Benny Sapp III.
