The Atlanta Falcons have signed defensive lineman Elijah Garcia from the New York Giants’ practice squad to their active roster, while releasing offensive lineman Andrew Stueber. The team also elevated cornerback Cobee Bryant and safety Jammie Robinson from the practice squad for Sunday’s game.
Garcia, who went undrafted in the 2022 NFL Draft, was initially signed by the Los Angeles Rams as a free agent. He spent most of his rookie season with the Rams before joining the Denver Broncos in December 2022. Garcia remained with Denver until 2024, when he joined the Giants’ practice squad. A graduate of Rice University, Garcia earned first-team All-Conference USA honors in 2021.
To accommodate Garcia on the 53-man roster, Stueber—who had joined Atlanta earlier this month—was released.
On Friday, the Falcons placed defensive lineman Sam Roberts on injured reserve. Defensive linemen Brandon Dorlus and Zach Harrison are listed as questionable for Sunday’s matchup against the Carolina Panthers. Additionally, Kentavius Street was promoted to the active roster from Atlanta’s own practice squad.
The elevations of Bryant and Robinson mark their first appearances on an active game-day roster this season. These moves come as starting cornerback Dee Alford has been ruled out due to a concussion and Mike Hughes is listed as questionable with a neck injury.
“Every team can elevate two players from the practice squad to the active roster for each game day. A player is allowed three elevations per season. A fourth elevation would require the player to be signed to the 53-man roster.”
The Falcons have previously made several other standard practice squad elevations throughout the season, including wide receiver David Sills V and running back Carlos Washington Jr. in Week 1; kicker Parker Romo in Week 2; cornerback Keith Taylor and wide receiver Deven Thompkins in Week 6; wide receiver Dylan Drummond and quarterback Easton Stick in Week 8; Drummond again in Week 9; and Taylor alongside offensive lineman Joshua Gray in Week 10.
