The Atlanta Falcons have added quarterback Ben DiNucci to their roster ahead of their final preseason game, the team announced Monday.

To make room for DiNucci, the Falcons released wide receiver DJ Chark and waived/injury quarterback Emory Jones. DiNucci was originally drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in the seventh round of the 2020 NFL Draft. In his rookie season, he played in three games and started one, completing 23 of 43 passes for 219 yards.

After his time with Dallas, DiNucci spent several years on practice squads across four different teams. He most recently was with the New Orleans Saints earlier this year.

DJ Chark and Emory Jones both appeared in Atlanta’s first two preseason matchups. Chark did not record any stats against the Detroit Lions but caught one pass for 11 yards against the Tennessee Titans. Jones completed four of five passes for 49 yards versus Detroit and two of five attempts for 16 yards against Tennessee before leaving that game early due to an undisclosed injury after taking a hard hit while scrambling.

The Falcons are set to play their third and final preseason game on Friday against the Dallas Cowboys at AT&T Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET.
