Former Atlanta Falcons linebacker Lorenzo Carter has announced his retirement from the NFL. The Tennessee Titans, his current team, made the announcement on Tuesday, stating that Carter will be placed on the league’s Reserve/Retired list.

Carter played for the Falcons between 2022 and 2024. During this period, he participated in all but four games, starting 29 out of a possible 51 games. He accumulated 125 tackles, with 14 for a loss and seven sacks. Additionally, he recovered three fumbles and forced two others. Notably, he scored his only career pick-six during an overtime victory against the Carolina Panthers on October 30, 2022.

Throughout his seven-year NFL career, Carter recorded a total of 278 tackles and 21.5 sacks over 62 starts in 96 appearances. His career statistics also include five forced fumbles, four recoveries, and two interceptions.

Carter was drafted by the New York Giants from the University of Georgia as a third-round pick in 2018. His professional debut occurred during Week 1 against the Jacksonville Jaguars on September 9, where he made one tackle and broke up one pass.

During his college years at Georgia, Carter participated in four bowl games and appeared in a national championship game in 2018. At age 29, Carter hails from Atlanta.
