During the first quarter of 2026, Pruitthealth – Griffin ranked as Spalding County’s third largest nursing home, data from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) showed.
The facility had 69 beds available, which is 48 fewer than the Spalding County average for that quarter. On average, 57.5 residents were cared for at the center during this period.
The CMS gave Pruitthealth – Griffin an overall score of 1 out of 5, compared with a Georgia state nursing home average of 2.7.
Spalding Post Acute, LLC had the highest bed count in the county for the quarter at 148, while Brightmoor Nursing Center, LLC followed in second with 133 beds.
Pruitthealth – Griffin did not record any fines or penalties in the first quarter of 2026.
There were three for-profit nursing facilities operating in Spalding County, Georgia.
U.S. Census Bureau estimates indicate a continued rise in the nation’s older adult population, with numbers of children falling. From 2020 to 2024, Americans age 65 and older increased by 13%, while those under 18 decreased 1.7%. The older population in the U.S. has grown substantially since 1920—rising from 4.9 million to more than 61 million by 2024.
A 2021 analysis estimates that approximately half of older adults—about 28 million people—may need long-term services, with more than a third likely to require nursing home care eventually.
“Living a long life is something that many of us want and could get,” said Jesse Slome, executive director of the American Association for Long-Term Care Insurance. “But when we live a long life, the chances of us needing long-term care increase exponentially. But when you need that type of care, there are limited options.”
