Registration is now open for the 18 Holes for Heroes Public Safety Golf Tournament, which will take place on Aug. 31 at Whitewater Creek Country Club in Fayetteville, Georgia. The event is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. and is hosted by Chairwoman Anderson-Henry to support Clayton County’s public safety agencies.

The tournament aims to bring together community members and supporters of local public safety personnel, with special features including a $1,000,000 shootout opportunity. Organizers encourage participation from residents and those interested in supporting first responders.

The golf tournament comes as Clayton County continues to see changes in its school system demographics. Enrollment at Clayton County schools dropped by 2.5% during the 2022-23 school year compared to the previous year, according to the Georgia Department of Education’s official website. Total enrollment reached 61,644 students during that period according to state data.

Black students represented the largest ethnic group within Clayton County schools at 68% of the student body in the same academic year as reported by state statistics. Hispanic students made up the second largest group with 24%, while multiracial students were third at 3% according to state reports. White students were least represented, comprising just 2% of total enrollment based on education department figures.

Further details about registration and participation can be found on the official event website under #ClaytonConnected.
