River’s Edge Elementary School is part of the Clayton County School District, which has its main office in Jonesboro.
Out of the 65 schools in Clayton County School District, Lovejoy High School had the highest number of multiracial students enrolled in 2024-25, with 59 students.

Chronic absenteeism continues to affect schools statewide after the pandemic, with 20.7% of students missing 10% or more of school days in 2024, according to the Georgia Department of Education. To address the issue, GaDOE started a statewide effort with real-time attendance dashboards, a public information campaign, and specialized support for high-need districts to encourage daily school attendance.
In 2025, Georgia introduced new legislation s that redefine school attendance laws and prohibit expulsion solely for lack of attendance. This law also incorporates extra reporting duties and partners with initiatives offering alternative diploma options for students.
