Reports from the Georgia Department of Education show Riverdale High School had 283 Hispanic students enrolled in the 2024-25 school year, an increase of 8.8% from the prior year.
The school’s total enrollment during 2024-25 reached 1,289 students, with Hispanic students comprising 22% of the population, making them the school’s second-largest demographic group.
Riverdale High is part of the Clayton County School District, whose administrative offices are located in Jonesboro.
Among all 65 schools in the district, Forest Park High School reported the highest Hispanic student enrollment for the 2024-25 school year, with 882 students.
Statewide, more than 1.7 million students attended Georgia public schools, as outlined in the Georgia Department of Education’s Fiscal Year 2026-1 report. Elementary schools had the largest share at 787,206 students (45.9%), followed by 388,733 middle school students (22.7%) and 539,092 in high school (31.4%).
Chronic absenteeism continues to affect Georgia, with 20.7% of students missing at least 10% of school days in 2024, according to the Georgia Department of Education. GaDOE responded by introducing a statewide initiative that includes a real-time attendance dashboard, a public awareness campaign, and focused support for districts with elevated absenteeism to improve daily attendance rates.
In 2025, state lawmakers changed attendance laws to prohibit expulsion based solely on absenteeism. The update added new reporting obligations and supports alternative diploma pathways.
Data for 2026 shows Georgia’s average student-teacher ratio at about 14:1, below the national figure of 15:1.
