Media Advisory - Dispute Leaves One Dead
On November 6, 2022, at 7:57 a.m., Clayton County Police Officers were flagged down at Tara Blvd and Old Dixie Road in reference to a shooting. Officers found the victim, Willie Tucker (29), in the roadway with multiple gunshot wounds. Mr. Tucker was immediately transported to a local hospital.
Because the incident had just occurred, officers observed the suspect, Jonathan Powell (30), attempting to walk away from the scene. Mr. Powell was quickly taken into custody. Mr. Powell was in possession of the weapon used during the shooting.
During the investigation, officers learned that Mr. Tucker and Mr. Powell was known to each other and was involved in a dispute.
Willie Tucker succumbed to his injuries at the hospital some hours later. Jonathan Powell was charged with Malice Murder, Aggravated Assault, Possession of a Weapon by a Convicted Felon, and Possession of a Weapon During the Commission of a Crime.
