Media Advisory -  Kidnapping Attempt During Domestic Violence Dispute

On November 11, 2022, at 8:30 p.m., Clayton County Police Officers responded to the 6300 block of Tara Blvd, Jonesboro, GA in reference to a domestic disturbance. During the investigation, officers learned the suspect, Joseph Oliver Lee, threatened to kill the victim. The suspect had a handgun during the altercation. The victim jumped from the vehicle attempting to escape Mr. Lee. Mr. Lee caught the victim and put her back inside the vehicle. 

The victim was able to escape the vehicle a second time. Witnesses nearby observed the altercation and immediately called police. Mr. Lee took the victim’s car with the children inside. The children were later located at a relative of Mr. Lee’s.  They were safe and not harmed. 

The victim suffered a broken ankle, and she was transported to a local hospital for treatment.  Joseph Oliver Lee was later captured for the following charges: Kidnapping, Aggravated Assault, Theft by Taking- Motor Vehicle, Cruelty to Children (2 Counts).
