#Update: Media Advisory - Stolen Vehicle with a Kidnapped Elderly Female Still Inside
On December 8, 2022, at 3:25 p.m., Clayton County Police Officers responded to the 7800 block of N Main Street, Jonesboro, GA in reference to a stolen vehicle. It was also reported that Shirley McCurry (86-year-old white female) was still inside the vehicle at the time it was stolen. The vehicle was described as a gray 2016 Nissan Rogue with Georgia license plate# CTW6796.
The Clayton County Police Department quickly asked for assistance from the public and our law enforcement partners to help locate Shirley McCurry. A picture of Ms. Shirly and the suspect was released along with a video of the incident. While detectives were talking with the family, a call came through to the family advising that Ms. Shirley McCurry was located in the 800 block of Howell Mill Road, Atlanta at a restaurant.
At approximately 9:30 p.m., Dekalb County Police Department received a phone call about the suspect and the vehicle being located at a restaurant. Once the suspect returned to the vehicle, he was immediately taken into custody by the Dekalb County Police Department.
The suspect, Taron Williams (33-year-old male) was charged with Kidnapping and Felony Theft by Taking – Motor Vehicle.
