Media Advisory - Children Left Without Parents After Domestic Violence Shooting

On December 30, 2022, at 10:19 a.m., Clayton County Police Officers responded to the 4400th block of Northwind Drive, Ellenwood, GA 30294 in reference to a person shot. Upon arrival, officers located the victim, Alicia Alston (45-year-old female) in front of the residence with multiple gunshot wounds. During the investigation, officers learned Alicia Alston and Johnnie Alston (57-year-old male) were involved in a domestic dispute that resulted in the shooting. Officers and witnesses applied pressure to the wound until medical personnel arrived. Alicia Alston was transported to a local hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries. During the incident, several children were inside the home.

Warrants were been obtained for Johnnie Alston for Malice Murder, Reckless Conduct, Five Counts of Cruelty to Children, and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony. Johnnie Alston was taken into custody on January 3, 2022.
