Media Advisory - Juvenile and Adult Armed Robbery Suspects in Custody

On January 7, 2023, at 3:01 p.m., Clayton County Police Officers responded to the 6700th block of Tara Blvd, Jonesboro, GA in reference to an armed robbery.  During the investigation, officers learned the victim was smoking marijuana with the two suspects. During that interaction, the two suspects pistol whipped the victim in the back of his head and stole his cellphone. The investigating officers was able to obtain a location using the “Find my iPhone” app. Officers were also advised that both suspects were armed with handguns. The C.A.G.E. Unit and additional Sector 4 Evening Watch Officers responded to the scene to assist with finding the two suspects.

Both suspects were located in the area of Jesters Lake Drive and North Main Street. The first suspect, a 14-year-old juvenile (not pictured or named due to age), complied with all commands from the officer and was immediately taken into custody without incident. Officers located a Google Pixel cellphone and a 9mm handgun in the juvenile’s underwear inside his pants. Officers were able to confirm the Google Pixel cellphone and the 9mm handgun was stolen during a different incident. The 14-year-old juvenile was charged with Armed Robbery, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime, and Possession of a Handgun by Person Under 18. 

Suspect Chase Phillips, a 21-year-old male, did attempt to flee the area on foot, but was apprehended by two other officers after a short foot chase.  Chase Phillips had in his possession a silver/black Bryco Arms handgun. Chase Phillips was charged with Armed Robbery, Aggravated Assault, Contributing the Delinquency of a Minor, VGCSA, Obstruction of an Officer, Drug Related Objects, and Pedestrian in the Roadway.

The victim was treated for the injury to the back of his head. Two firearms, two cellphones, marijuana, additional magazines, ammunition, and a digital scale were all located and confiscated from both suspects during this incident.
