We Are Still in the Season of Burglaries | Property Noise

Media Advisory - Burglary Suspect Caught Red-Handed
On January 14, 2023, at 12:30 a.m., Clayton County Police Officers responded to the 6000th block of Woodview Drive, Morrow in reference to a burglary. Upon arrival, officers observed a broken glass door that allowed entry into the garage. Officer then heard movement inside the residence. Officers gave commands advising the suspect to stop. The suspect ran to the garage door, pulled it up, and ran up the driveway. Officers chased the suspect on foot. As the suspect was running, the suspect was swinging a metal door jam at the officers trying to strike them. Officers were able to tackle the suspect and successfully bring the suspect to the ground. The suspect was quickly handcuffed and placed into the patrol vehicle without further incident.
During the investigation, officers learned that the homeowner recently passed away. Officers observed forced entry into the home. The residence was completely ransacked. The suspect, Ramon Gomez (37), admitted to being inside the home for three weeks and is currently homeless.
Ramon Gomez has been charged with Burglary, Obstruction of Law Enforcement, and Simple Battery.
