(Clayton County, GA) – Governor Brian P. Kemp’s recent appointments of 48 people to state boards, authorities, and commissions includes representation from Clayton County. Erica Rocker, Clayton County Economic Development Officer, is the first black woman in Georgia to be appointed to the Stone Mountain Memorial Association (SMMA). According to SMMA, the mission is to sustain, enhance, and protect Stone Mountain Park and to provide enriching historical, natural, cultural, and recreational experiences for all who visit.
“I am grateful for my work in our great county,” said Economic Development Officer Erica Rocker. I am honored that Governor Kemp has asked me to serve on the SMMA to add balance, culture, and expertise.”
Rocker has 25 years of experience in municipal government. She currently leads the Office of Economic Development for the Clayton County Board of Commissioners, serves on the Southern Innovation Crescent Board, and the Atlanta Regional Marketing Alliance. Additionally, Rocker serves as a member of the Arts Clayton Board of Directors, the Georgia Economic Developers Association (GEDA), International Economic Development Council (IEDC), ATL Airport Board of Directors, the National Trust for Historic Preservation, and the Emory University Alumni Association.
A swear-in ceremony is scheduled for Thursday, March 2, 2023, at 1:30 p.m. at the Georgia State Capital, 206 Washington Street, Atlanta GA.
