(Clayton County, GA) – Clayton County Board of Commissioners Office of Youth Services in partnership with the Department of Information Technology has launched the Cybersecurity Certification Program, a coding summer boot camp created for young adults ages 18-24. This program is made possible by entering a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia through the Clayton State University Continuing Education and Professional Education program. The camp begins Feb., 10, 2023, and ends July 18, 2023.
“As advocates for education, the Clayton County Board of Commissioners think it is necessary to provide students with the necessary tools to pursue any post-secondary education or career goal,” said Board of Commissioners Chairman Jeffrey E. Turner. “This program will enhance workforce readiness for the youth of Clayton County by offering technology training and skills development programs that will increase their marketability to local businesses and other organizations.”
High school students have the opportunity to gain knowledge and hands on experience in the field of cybersecurity and coding in a university setting. Students also obtain career skills. Participants that successfully complete the program will receive certification and a laptop.
