How many African American students were enrolled in Clayton County school district in 2022-23 school year?

There were 34,336 African American students enrolled in Clayton County school district in the 2022-23 school year, 2.8% less than the previous year, according to the Georgia Department of Education.

Data showed that Clayton County school district welcomed 50,495 students during the 2022-23 school year. Among them, African American students comprised 68% of the student body to be the most represented ethnicity in the county's school district.

This is the only school district located within Clayton County, with its main office in Jonesboro.

As of 2024, Georgia has an average student-to-teacher ratio of approximately 15:1, which is better than the national average of 16:1. The state has its best student-to-teacher ratio of 14:1 in pre-kindergarten and middle school grades, while high school has an average ratio of 17:1.
