A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to the Georgia Superior Court Clerks Retirement Fund on September 20, 2024. The request was made by South Atlanta News, a media organization dedicated to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs.
In the request, we sought records under the Georgia Open Records Act § 50.18.70 et seq., specifically requesting for a list of all active and retired employees in the organization's pension fund for the year of 2023. The requested data fields include last name, first name, middle name, date of birth, employer name, employment start date, employment end date, salary, compensation type, amount, year, process date, last disbursement amount, disbursement frequency and 2023 contribution amount.
As a media organization committed to transparency and holding public institutions accountable, we believe access to these public records is essential in fulfilling our professional responsibilities. We have requested that these records be provided in an electronic format and have also asked for a fee waiver given our role as a media professional.
