The National Football League (NFL) has announced that Atlanta will host Super Bowl LXII in 2028. The game is set to take place at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, as revealed during the NFL Fall League Meeting in Atlanta. This decision follows a review by the NFL's Fan Engagement & Major Events Committee and a vote by full ownership.
"Renowned for its hospitality and rich sports and entertainment culture, Atlanta is a world-class event destination and a natural fit for Super Bowl 62," said NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell. He praised Arthur Blank, the owner of the Atlanta Falcons, for his significant contributions to the community and his role in securing the Super Bowl bid. "I have been fortunate to witness firsthand how Arthur continues to drive community engagement and economic development in the Atlanta community through his unwavering commitment to sports and philanthropy."
This will be the fourth time Atlanta hosts the Super Bowl, with Mercedes-Benz Stadium previously hosting it in 2019. Arthur M. Blank expressed gratitude for this opportunity: "Thank you to my fellow owners for their trust in awarding Atlanta this opportunity... I look forward to working alongside our city and state officials as we continue to elevate Georgia as a premier, global sports destination."
In preparation for Super Bowl LXII, various events such as NFL Honors, Super Bowl Experience, and an expansive community program will be held across the Atlanta metropolitan area.
Dan Corso, president of the Atlanta Sports Council and Atlanta Super Bowl Bid Committee stated: "We are thrilled to welcome the Super Bowl back to Atlanta in 2028 for a fourth time." He emphasized that no city is better positioned than Atlanta to host such major events.
