Outside linebacker Lorenzo Carter has been placed on injured reserve, according to an announcement by the Atlanta Falcons. The team disclosed that Carter was in the NFL's concussion protocol after initially reporting he missed practice due to illness. He did not participate in practices on Thursday or Friday and was ruled out for Sunday's game against the Seattle Seahawks.
Carter had started every game this season except for last week's victory over the Carolina Panthers. In his absence, James Smith-Williams is expected to start, with Arnold Ebiketie likely seeing more playing time as well.
With a vacancy on their 53-man roster, the Falcons have signed cornerback Kevin King. King has been involved with the Falcons throughout the season, appearing in all six games. His return to the NFL comes after missing two seasons due to personal reasons and injury. Previously, King played five seasons with the Green Bay Packers.
Additionally, cornerback Natrone Brooks and defensive lineman Demone Harris have been elevated from the practice squad for Week 7. This will be Brooks' first elevation in 2024, while Harris seeks his first game appearance since 2022.
The Falcons are set to face off against the Seahawks at Mercedes-Benz Stadium at 1 p.m. ET on FOX.
