During the 2023 season, the Atlanta Falcons struggled to score over 30 points in any game. However, this year has seen a significant improvement in their offensive performance. In recent games, they have managed to surpass the 30-point mark three times out of four matches.
The changes contributing to this turnaround include a new quarterback, receiver, and offensive scheme. These adjustments have not only placed the Falcons at the top of the NFC South with a 5-3 record but also boosted production for key players.
As of Week 8, Atlanta boasts several top performers: Kirk Cousins as a top-10 passer, Bijan Robinson as a top-10 rusher, and Drake London and Darnell Mooney as two top-16 receivers. Kyle Pitts is also close behind in receiving yards.
The editorial team speculates on which player might finish the year as a top-10 producer at his position:
Tori McElhaney believes Kirk Cousins will achieve this status. She notes his rebound against Tampa Bay Buccaneers after a less impressive game against Seattle Seahawks. "Not only do I think Cousins is tracking towards a top-10 ranking in one category... but I think we'll see him in the top-10 in multiple categories across the board," she states.
Will McFadden agrees with McElhaney's assessment of Cousins' potential impact on other players like London and Mooney: "This is exactly what fans hoped for when Raheem Morris brought Zach Robinson over with him from Los Angeles."
Scott Waack suggests Bijan Robinson could reach this milestone due to his improved average rushing yards per game compared to last season. He explains that if Robinson maintains his current pace, he could easily surpass last year's total and break into the top 10.
Amna Subhan highlights another possibility by focusing on wide receiver Drake London: "London currently ranks No. 13 among all wide receivers with 525 yards." With strong performances so far this season, both London and fellow receiver Darnell Mooney could potentially finish within the top ten rankings.
The addition of Kirk Cousins and changes implemented by Zac Robinson appear to be paying off for Atlanta's offense as they continue their campaign through the second half of this NFL season.
