FOIA Request Sent to Spalding County Election Department Regarding Ballot Counting Methods on October 29, 2024

FOIA Request to Spalding County Election Department Regarding Ballot Counting Methods on October 29, 2024.

As part of our commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at South Atlanta News have submitted a request under the Georgia Open Records Act § 50.18.70 et seq., for information about the methods used by the Spalding County Election Department to count votes.

In our quest for transparency and accountability in public institutions, we are particularly interested in whether the vote counting process is manual or automated. If it is manual, we have requested an estimate of the number of people who will be working on election night.

As media professionals involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, access to such public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. We believe that our role in disseminating information makes us eligible for a fee waiver as a media professional.

We look forward to receiving this information from the Spalding County Election Department as it will significantly contribute to our ongoing coverage of local governmental affairs.
