The Atlanta Falcons, in collaboration with Truist, have launched a series to introduce fans to the franchise's limited partners. Over the next 11 weeks, AtlantaFalcons.com will feature Q&A sessions with each of the 11 limited partners. The discussions will cover business insights, memorable experiences related to the Atlanta Falcons, and more.
This week's feature is on Will Packer, a prominent filmmaker known for producing or executive producing movies that have collectively grossed over $1 billion worldwide. Packer's films "Girls Trip" and "Night School" were top-grossing comedies in 2017 and 2018. He has also received multiple Emmy nominations, including one for leading the first all-Black producing team for the Academy Awards.
Will Packer Media, his content company, produces various media across television and digital platforms. Additionally, Packer serves on the board of the Atlanta Hawks Foundation and supports HBCU initiatives. He holds an honorary doctoral degree from Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) and is a graduate of Florida A&M University (FAMU), where he was honored with the Meritorious Achievement Award.
In his interview, Packer shared his motivations for becoming a limited partner in the Atlanta Falcons organization: "The decision was as much about my community as it was for myself and my family. I believe that oftentimes youth aspire to be what they can see."
He recalled his favorite memory related to the Falcons: "Beating the Minnesota Vikings in the NFC Championship game on the way to the 1999 Super Bowl."
Reflecting on his career, Packer said: "Honestly, it's not my own personal achievements, but the accomplishments of others that I have served as a mentor to."
Discussing philanthropic passions, he mentioned: "My wife and I have the Packer Family Foundation that focuses on HBCU initiatives and serving underprivileged youth."
For business advice, Packer stated: "Always defy expectations. I was told as a young filmmaker to always surpass whatever outlook someone else has on me."
His favorite player of all time is Doug Williams: "Seeing him win Super Bowl XXII was truly inspirational."
