The Atlanta Falcons concluded their 2024 NFL season with a 44-38 overtime loss to the Carolina Panthers at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. The game was witnessed by 69,581 fans.

In this match, the Falcons made history as the first NFL team to have a 300-yard passer, a 175-yard receiver, and a 150-yard rusher all under the age of 25 in one game. Quarterback Michael Penix Jr., aged 24, passed for 312 yards. Wide receiver Drake London, aged 23, had 187 receiving yards. Running back Bijan Robinson, aged 22, rushed for 170 yards.

Robinson's performance marked his sixth consecutive game with at least 90 rushing yards and his third consecutive game with multiple rushing touchdowns. London finished the season with exactly 100 receptions and achieved career highs in touchdowns and yardage.

Panthers quarterback Bryce Young contributed significantly to his team's victory with five touchdowns—three passing and two rushing—and was neither sacked nor intercepted for the first time in his starting career.

Despite beginning the season strong at 6-3, Atlanta ended with an overall record of 8-9 after going through a challenging second half. This marks their seventh consecutive year without making it to the playoffs.

Falcons head coach Raheem Morris expressed optimism about rookie quarterback Michael Penix Jr.'s future: "The organization has a quarterback that is certainly bright...Michael Penix is certainly outstanding."

Defensive lineman Zach Harrison commented on missing out on playoffs: "Losing sucks...We need to attack the offseason."

Quarterback Michael Penix Jr. shared hope for future success: "I look forward to a lot of playoffs and even Super Bowls in the future here."

Panthers head coach Dave Canales praised Penix Jr.: "He's got arm talent...I'm looking forward to a lot of great battles against Michael Penix."

Panthers tight end Tommy Tremble celebrated their win over Atlanta: "To get a win like that...it was a great moment."

With this loss, Atlanta finishes its season without any further games scheduled.
