FOIA Request to Clayton County Election Department Regarding Upcoming Election Candidates on February 5, 2025.
In our ongoing commitment to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at South Atlanta News have sent a request under the Georgia Open Records Act § 50.18.70 et seq., to the Clayton County Election Department.
Our request is for records of all candidates running in the upcoming election. We are seeking information including each candidate's first, middle, and last name; the office they are running for; jurisdiction of the office; and party affiliation. Additionally, we have requested contact information for each candidate, which includes their address, phone number, and email address.
As a media organization dedicated to transparency and accountability in public institutions, we believe access to these public records is essential in fulfilling our professional responsibilities. Given our role in disseminating information to the public, we have also requested a fee waiver as a media professional.
