Born August 23 in Griffin, Georgia

He was born August 23, 1945, in Griffin, Georgia. He played football at Fort Valley State. He joined the Dallas Cowboys in 1967. He started at right tackle from 1970. He helped win Super Bowls VI and XII. He made six Pro Bowls and was named All‑Pro thrice. He played 13 seasons in Dallas. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2006. His time from Griffin to Dallas shaped his legacy and connected him to his hometown.
