Randy Hough | Fayette County Schools Board of Education
Moms for Liberty has endorsed Randy Hough in his race for re-election to his seat on the Fayette County Public Schools Board of Education, representing District 1. Early voting began on October 15 and extends through November 1 for the November 5 general election.
Hough first joined the Fayette County Public Schools Board of Education in January 2021. He represents District 1, and he currently serves as Board Vice Chair.
When Hough was running for his first term on the board, his platform consisted of three main pillars: fiscal responsibility through sound budgeting, an emphasis on student achievement and on ensuring that the learning environment was one that focused on character and morals, and empowering teachers, according to a March 2020 article from The Citizen.
Hough holds an MBA in finance and financial management services from Georgia State, according to his LinkedIn page.
Hough had lived in Peachtree City since 1973, and he had held a number of positions in the financial services industry over the past several decades, The Citizen reported. All four of his children went to Fayette County Public Schools, and his grandchildren were currently part of the system as well.
Per the Fayette County Public Schools Board of Education's website, the Board comprises five members. Terms are four years and staggered so that two or three members are elected every two years.
Moms for Liberty is a parental-rights-in-education advocacy group founded by Tiffany Justice and Tina Descovich, two former school board members. According to their website, "Moms for Liberty is dedicated to fighting for the survival of America by unifying, educating and empowering parents to defend their parental rights at all levels of government."
